MPC - Chain signatures
ABOUT NEAR MPC
NEAR Chain Signatures (previously referred to as MPC technology) is a cross-chain signing solution built by NEAR Protocol that enables applications and smart contracts on NEAR to interact securely with multiple blockchains from a single NEAR account.
Using advanced Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology, private keys are never held by a single party or server. Instead, signing operations are distributed across a decentralized network of nodes, significantly improving security while enabling seamless cross-chain functionality.
Chain Signatures allow developers and users to sign transactions and control accounts on networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other supported blockchains directly from NEAR. This creates a powerful chain abstraction layer where users can access multiple ecosystems without needing separate wallets, bridges, or complex infrastructure.
By combining decentralization, interoperability, and secure cryptographic signing, NEAR Chain Signatures help simplify the multi-chain experience and support the next generation of cross-chain decentralized applications.
