Solidity Smart Contracts on Kusama

Moonriver is a companion network to Moonbeam and provides a continuously incentivized canary network. Moonriver gets the new code first, so it can be tested and verified under real economic conditions. The same code ships to Moonbeam on Polkadot once proven.

Frequently asked questions

What is collating?

Collators provide the technical ablilities to be able to offer a secure and stable infrastructure. Collators create new blocks on Moonriver. Collators are the equivalent of validators, except they are 'block producers' on parachains in the Kusama/Polkadot relay chain.

What is nominating?

Not everyone has the know-how, time or ability to be a collator, however token holders can nominate a collator with their MOVR tokens. In the Kusama/Polkadot ecosystems you will 'nominate' collators/validators, this is the equivalent of staking on other networks.

Why should you nominate a collator?

When you nominate a collator, you are helping to secure the network and you will receive rewards for your assistance. As your MOVR tokens are locked up for longer periods, you will receive more rewards. Your tokens will always remain your property and Staking4All cannot move your tokens anywhere.

Can you remove your nominations from a collator?

Yes, you can remove or change your nominations at any time.

How do you nominate a collator?

You can nominate collators by visiting the Moonriver staking page. Watch our video above for a step-by-step tutorial.
